If you are 5-10 years behind when it comes to internet speeds. I am pretty sure you will find this article useful. Here I am sharing a handy trick that promise a super speed-boost to your web browsing experience. Here we go.
In phones and tablets world, Speed has always been Opera’s forte. It render pages at lightening speed even on slow connection. Users are always under impression about the different versions of browsers offered by Opera. First, I will attempt to clarify the difference.
Opera offers three different browsers- Opera browser for Computers (PC, Mac and Windows), Opera Mini and Opera Mobile, both are developed for mobile devices. Opera browser for computers need no introduction as most of us are still using it . We need to understand difference between Opera Mini and Opera Mobile. The two browsers use different rendering engines but their features are virtually identical. Mini uses Opera server to compress, reformat and optimize data for small screen, which results in faster page transfer and little processing power required at your end. Whereas, in Opera mobile , your mobile does all the processing and page rendering. So, Opera Mini is good to use when your network connection isn’t optimal. So, somehow if we are able to install Opera Mini on our computer, we will get faster surfing speed even on slow internet connection. Here is step by step tutorial on installing Opera Mini on your browser.
What you need
1. Make sure to install Java Runtime Environment (JRE) if you don’t have it yet.
2. Download and extract the latest version of Micro Emulator to your computer.
3. Download JAD and JAR file of Opera Mini from the Opera Download Page and put it in any folder, preferably in the ‘apps’ folder in the MicroEmulator application directory.
Run Opera Mini
1. Open ‘microemulator.jar’ in microemulator’s directory and you will see a cellphone like interface. Enable internet access to microemulator application. Click on ‘Options’ and then make sure ‘MIDIet Network Access’ is checked.
2. To change appearance to big screen, go to “Options -> Select Devices” and select Resizable devices from the available options and click on the “Resizable device” button, finally click on the Ok button.
3. Open Opera Mini file, “File -> Open MIDletfile File.”, locate Opera Mini Jar file.
4. Click Start and Opera Mini will be launched.
On PC, Opera Mini has a smoother interface which give you a similar web experience as any other browser on your PC. It offers handy tools such as tabbed browsing, bookmarks, speed dial page and history. It also help you to synchronize your bookmarks and speed dial settings with the help of Opera link.
With Opera Mini, pages are rendered at lightening speed, and difference over other desktop browser is apparent. After bandwidth usage, I barely get 155 KBps over my pathetic USB modem connection, but still do everything with Opera Mini which provide more than 1Mbps surfing speed. This works well during our speed test (see the picture).
Those using a computer with a slow connection will appreciate the Opera Mini browser which speeds up your browsing experience by rendering web pages faster than any other browser. But, Opera Mini is limited to fast surfing of websites, you can’t download files also can’t watch online videos. However, considering the super surfing speed and compatibility on different operating system, it pretty much deserves the accolades.
