Google has been planning to launch its occasionally controversial product “Google Street View” first time in India . Starting from Bangalore, Street View is going to provide panoramic images which enable users to see certain parts of Bangalore city – means you can zoom into places and get the actual view 360 degree of the street on Google Maps. Street view is available for almost 30countries, including US, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Japan, South Africa and some parts of Europe ( See Google Street View availability on World map)
In an entry on Google India blog, Google official announced that they have started collecting photographs of public locations around the Bangalore city using high resolution cameras mounted on cars and trikes (three-wheeler rickshaws).

Though, It’s an innovative and wonderful service to explore new area but the service has been hogging the limelight for privacy breach in many countries. So, what about privacy in India?
Google India chief, Vinay Goel said - “Street View is designed to comply with all local laws including those related to security and privacy in India. We are planning to collect images of important monuments and tourist spots after getting necessary sanction from the authorities,”
I wish for a great success of Google Street View in India, making places on map accessible as never before and providing a whole new perspective.
