A Creative Photography with Pencil Sketches and Digital Photos

Ben Heine, a self taught photographer, caricaturist and a remarkable visual creator from Ivory coast has created nice photographic work in which he enhances pictures and photos with pencil sketches.

Ben got the idea to create pictures while writing a letter and watching television at the same time. According to Ben

Reading my letter before putting it in the envelope, I saw in transparency the television behind the paper. I then realized it would be great to make something similar in a single image showing  two different actions

In his pictures, paper drawing mixed and matches seamlessly with the digital photos taken by camera. Some part of the scene is represented on the drawing paper and the rest part happens on the photo.

Ben also explained the techniques used to create these stunning photographs .

  • Simply draw the picture and hold out your hand with the scenery behind it.
  • Print a very large picture of a background scenery and then place this on the wall and hold the drawing up to it. Take a picture of my hand holding the drawing and then digitally match them up with a totally different background that you have photographed.
  • Use the computer to create a digital background and add a digitally drawn picture to the scene.
