Highlight content on a Webpage then Download as PDF

You are reading a webpage, say an article on Google webmaster blog, you would like to highlight text of interest and then store permanently in the PDF file so you can see the page containing highlighted text for offline reading on your desktop based PDF reader.

Here I’ve made a non geeky trick in which we are breaking the situation into two simple steps, first is to highlight content on a webpage and second, download webpage with persistent highlights.

For step one, there is a service called “Diigo” which will help you to highlight the content or paragraph of interest. We are using Diigo because it provide a powerful tool to highlight webpage and also give you an annotate link that enable you to share a webpage complete with highlights & sticky notes to anyone. Annotate link display cached version for the page you bookmark in Diigo — see example. [ The small trick ] We need to pull cached version of webpage into webpage to PDF convertor engine. Get Diigo tools for your Browser.

Then for step 2, there is a handy Bookmarklet offer by Web2PDF that convert any webpage into high quality PDF file.

Watch the video tutorial that describe how you can quickly generate a PDF file of a webpage with highlighted topics of your interest. So it would become easy for you to spot the useful information with your eyeballs when you open PDF file on your Desktop based PDF reader.
