Are you working at a desk job sitting right in front of a computer ? Spending a long periods of time of your day at a desk in front of computers ( or Television ) could harm your eyes. It should be in our practice to take care eyes while working on computer for a long time.
Here are some simple but effective tips that relax your tired eyes, prevent you from computer eye strain, headaches and other Computer Vision Syndromes :.
General tips and exercises
» Maintain a proper distance between your eyes and computer screen. The ideal distance would be more than 25 cm. And, the ideal viewing area of monitor is 6 inches, below the horizontal eye level.
» Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Changing your focus will help you to reduce eye fatigue. Take short visual break for your eyes every twenty minute between your work for 20 seconds then look at the object that are at least 20 feet away.
» Close your eyes and slowly roll your eyeballs clockwise and anticlockwise. Repeat it for three times.
» While you start having a vaguely uncomfortable feeling in the eyes, have a pause and close your eyes. Rub your palms slowly over your closed eyes. You would feel relaxed.
» Blink frequently and close your eyes for a while after sometime to prevent dryness – this relaxes your eyes by providing moisture to them. You can also have a few splash of cold water on your eyes.
» Room should have proper light and avoid glare from windows by placing monitor so that your line of site should be parallel to windows.
» Use bigger size monitor, flat display and large font . Adjust various display properties such as brightness, contrast, saturation, resolution and color so that you can see the content on screen clearly.
» Keep the tea bags in the refrigerator for cooling. After sometime, take those bags out of refrigerator and place those cool wet tea bags on your eyes for 10 minutes. This process will rejuvenate your tired eyes. You can also put slice of cucumber on your tired eyes.
» If you are using using CRT monitor, use anti-glare Screen or anti-glare Spectacle
» Take a good quantity of nutritious food ( rich in vitamin A) along with a plenty of water – this will replenish your essential body fluids and help your eyes retain moisture.
